At a glance
WHAT: Patterson City Council special workshop on non-potable water
WHEN: 6 p.m. Tuesday
WHERE:  Patterson City Council chambers, City Hall, 1 Plaza
INFO: 895-8014

In the past, the water the city has used to keep its parks and fields green has been of the same quality as the wet stuff that pours from residential faucets.

But that could change soon. During a special workshop Tuesday, the Patterson City Council will discuss ways to irrigate with non-potable water sources.

The H2O Group, a consultant that has been working with the city on a water plan, will lead the discussion.

The workshop will include information on the city’s water situation before consultants delve into the advantages and disadvantages of non-potable water systems and potential sources of such water. In addition, the workshop will provide information on design criteria, the proposed layout for such a system and related costs and financing options.

City officials will discuss their recommended plan.

Mike Willett, the city’s director of public works, indicated last week that the city decided to have a separate meeting on the subject because it would take a long time to discuss.

Staff will be available to answer questions that are brought up during the workshop.
