WHAT: Patterson Unified School District board meetingWHEN: 7 p.m. Monday WHERE: District office, 510 Keystone Blvd. INFO: 895-7700 The Patterson Unified School District board will review the district’s 2008-09 general fund budget at Monday night’s meeting. The budget comes in at $41.4 million to run the 5,600-student district with more than 500 teachers and staff. Salaries and benefits for staff and books and supplies for students make up more than 80 percent of spending. The state requires school districts to adopt a budget by June 30 and send it to the county superintendent of school for review and approval. Also in the superintendent’s report, two of the district’s principals, Shawn Posey of Creekside Middle School and Alberto Velarde of Del Puerto High School, will review the proposed Academy Program at Creekside. The Academy Program would help seventh-grade students who need individualized attention to improve their attendance, academic performance, interpersonal skills or behavior. Students would be referred by a school staff member or teacher and approved by the principal. They and their parents would be required to follow guidelines. Students must attend school regularly to participate.
