Awards went to several entrants in this year’s edition of the Patterson Apricot Fiesta parade on Saturday.
Mi Casa Preschool took home the fiesta’s Best Hometown Entry for the float “Each of Us Is a Flower,” while Cub Scout Pack 81 won the Best Theme Decor for the float themed “Black Tie and Tails From the South Pole.” Claudio Arroyo won the Equestrian Sweepstakes Award.
Mi Casa received $400 and a trophy, while the Cub Scouts and Arroyo each received $200 and a trophy for their entries.
Grand marshal Mike Mattos, dressed as Gen. George S. Patton, led the parade through the downtown streets. Model A cars, the Apricot Fiesta float with Miss Patterson and her court, the Patterson High School band, Modesto Shriners in little cars and the perennial crowd favorite Balloon Platoon were among the 81 entries that entertained the thousands gathered along the route.
