California Highway Patrol officers seized 30 pounds of marijuana after stopping a car on Interstate 5 south of Fink Road Tuesday. Police arrested the driver, Cuong Do Nguyen, 33, and his passenger, Vinh Huu Tran, 26, both from Seattle, on suspicion of possessing marijuana with the intent to sell and transportating marijuana. Both men were booked into Stanislaus County Jail in Modesto. Huu Tran remained in custody as of Friday. Do Nguyen was released from jail. An officer stopped the 2007 Hyundai for speeding at about 10:45 a.m. The officer noticed “drug trafficking indicators,” according to a CHP report, and used his police dog to conduct a “sniff” search. The dog indicated something in the trunk, where police found the drugs.
