Commission tackles taco trucks again Print E-mail

At a glance
  • WHAT: Planning Commission meeting
  • WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday
  • WHERE: Council Chambers, City Hall, 1 Plaza Circle

After months of review, Patterson Planning Commission is finally set to rule on new mobile food vendor ordinances at a Thursday meeting.

Mobile food vendors range from ice cream vendors on bicycles to taco trucks. The taco trucks have received the lion’s share of attention while the commission pondered the new rules.

Some of the changes proposed by city staff include limiting operating hours and opening up residential areas to ice cream vendors. Technically, ice cream vendors aren’t allowed in the residential areas now, but that rule has long gone un-enforced.

The new proposal would clear up the discrepancy by allowing ice cream vendors to operate between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
