The devil made me do it
Have you ever heard anyone say “Oh, the devil made me do it” after they had done something wrong? But the reality is the devil cannot make us do anything we don’t want to do. Basically, that statement is a copout, because as human beings, we should be able to take responsibility for whatever actions we take in life.
Now, the devil might be able to tempt us, trick us and even con us, but he can never make us do things we do not want to do. There’s a passage in the Bible that goes like this: “So then, every one of us shall give an account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12).
It looks to me like no one will be playing the blame game before God’s judgment throne.
A while back, I was at a city meeting and I heard my boss, Robert Andrade, say something that was very wise. He said, “You have the liberty to choose your actions, but you don’t have the liberty to suffer the consequences.”
I’m sure people reading this are probably thinking, ‘Wow, my list is pretty big, because I’ve done a lot of wrong things in my lifetime.’
I’m here to tell you, you can reduce that list to zero, zilch, nada, and the way to do it, is through the blood of Jesus Christ. God tells us in his word, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
Pure, clean justified. The slate can be wiped clean. Just come to Jesus, for he took the sins of the whole world upon himself; he paid the debt for your sins upon the rugged cross. He was the scapegoat for you. Take advantage of his promises.
God bless.
