50-Plus Club meets in Newman Orestimba 50-Plus Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at L.J. Newman Hall, 649 Orestimba Road, in Newman. Angie Snowdall, Lucretia Brant, Betty Matoza and Esther Luna will provide the refreshments. At the May 2 meeting, the club observed a moment of silence for Thelma Hansen. A monetary donation will be sent to the Newman Historical Society in her name. A sympathy card was sent to the family. The club sang the birthday song to Mary Machado and Jeannie Madenwald. Club president Kent Madenwald announced the senior center would open soon in Newman, and some senior activities will be offered. Betty Hernandez won the 50-50 prize, and Marie Mello won the sign-in prize. Robert Seay and Donna Crow won other donated prizes. For information: 862-2063.
