New cheer coach announced, Patterson falls at Hilmar New cheer coach announced Patterson High has found its next cheerleading coach in Bethany Van Gaalen. Van Gaalen went to work early, announcing a meeting for both parents and students, scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Patterson High auditorium. Among the topics to be discussed will be tryout procedures and an announcement date for all those interested in auditioning for the basketball cheerleading squad. The tryout date for the football cheer squad will be at 5 p.m. May 21 in the Patterson High gym. Patterson falls at Hilmar The Patterson baseball team dropped a close game to the host Yellowjackets on Wednesday, 6-5.
