The book of the Christian Bible

Greetings to all my neighbors in Patterson!

Let’s talk briefly about the book that is the basis of Christianity, the Bible. I prefer to call this book of books “the Christian Bible.” It is the only official biography of Jesus of Nazareth, also known as the Christ. Plus, it is the official ancient history of the Jewish people.

How about some incredible proof about the authenticity of this book?

Back we go to the beginning of the Hebrew people. Abraham (first named Abram) was given a promise by God in Genesis 12:1-3 in approximately 2000 B.C. This promise was passed down to Isaac and then to Jacob.

The promise has several parts. First, from Abraham a great nation would come. When the children of Israel came out of Egyptian slavery, they numbered 2 to 3 million. Promise kept!

Second, Abraham’s name would be great. So, how did God do with that one?  Jews, Christians and Muslims all consider Abraham to be the father of their people, whether by genetics or by spiritual heritage. OK, score two for God.

Third, those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse them will be cursed. How many times over history have the Israelites come under attack? The Bible speaks of many, due to God allowing judgments to fall upon them for turning their back on him. In ancient times, the Babylonians, Medes-Persians and Romans were masters over Israel. With the fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, the Jewish state ceased to exist. The people were scattered all over the world, and the Hebrew language died out from everyday usage.

During World War II, one group was first singled out by Hitler and the Nazis to be exterminated. That’s right, the Jewish people. The Nazis were destroyed, and the Jewish people lived on.

Then, on May 14, 1948, something happened that has never happened before nor will ever happen again. An ancient people were re-gathered in their ancient homeland in keeping with the promise of the God of the Christian Bible (Ezekiel 36:22-38). The language of this nation is Hebrew, the tongue of Abraham. Israel was reborn after 2,000 years.

The God of the Christian Bible has kept his promise to restore the Jews to the Promised Land. This is one more absolute proof as to the authenticity of the Bible as the only Word of God.

By the way, the real star of the Bible is Jesus. If all this is true about Abraham, what’s said about the Messiah (or Christ) must be true as well. Even the coming of the Christ was part of the promise to Abraham:  “… and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of blessing to the entire Earth. God is good, and so is the Bible!
