Local girls in running for car Patterson High School students Danielle Ramirez and Annette Urbina are among the county students whose names were drawn for a chance to win a 2007 Pontiac G6. The drawing is part of the Stanislaus County Office of Education’s “Every Day Counts!” attendance campaign to get kids to go to school each day. Fifty finalists’ names were drawn from among the 500 county students who missed three days or fewer of school this year. They and their families have been invited to the final drawing at 7 p.m. Thursday at Roberts Auto Sales, 4813 McHenry Ave., in Modesto, for a chance to win the car. AROUND TOWN Pieces of history Look back: Former Patterson High School art instructor Gerald Park, who designed a mural of historical Patterson on the wall of the former City Council chambers inside Patterson Branch Library, points out intricacies of the mosaic he constructed with his students in 1968. Members of the Patterson Township Historical Society seek to preserve the mosaic, which has had some pieces fall off, and possibly find it a new home in City Hall.
