The Patterson High varsity boys swimming team claimed the Mother Lode League championship outright April 22. The team — which consists of athletes ranging from freshman to senior class standing — capped off its undefeated season with an impressive showing at last week’s MLL league meet in Jackson. Patterson’s Kyle VanRiper, David Klemme, Richard Carney and Patrick Gonzales will all represent the Tigers at sections. Gustine’s Mark Rasmussen, who swims with the Tigers’ squad, also qualified for a spot at sections. “Overall this season, I am very, very proud of these kids,” Patterson swimming coach Lew Boyle said. “They did the heavy lifting. They did the hard work. The results are there. Winning the MLL is pretty tough to beat.”
