Would-be burglar caught on tape

A Patterson man reported that a teenager had tried to break into his home at 5:50 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Heartland Ranch Avenue.

ImageA different teen knocked on the man’s door, but he did not answer it because he did not know the person. While the teen continued to knock, the man spotted another teenager in his backyard. That teen tried to open a window to the house, and the man called 9-1-1. The teenager in the backyard heard the call and ran away.

Police did not find either of the teens after arriving at the man’s house. But the man had video surveillance, which he showed to the deputy.
