The manufacturer’s guarantee
Luke 15:8-10

Many, in their search for fulfillment, try one thing after another, perpetually moving from one job to the next, one church to the next, one town to the next, one spouse to the next. When the going gets rough, these individuals never hang in there long enough to make any progress.

Jesus tells us a story about a woman who swept her house and searched carefully until she found the coin she had lost. She didn’t sit in her chair and mourn her loss, but instead got up and worked until it was found. She translated her desire into a plan and her plan into action.

The realization of your potential requires that you stick with something until you see it through. It’s not enough just to think about what God wants from your life; you have to get up and do it.

Sony is a Japanese company that manufactures electronics. When you buy an appliance from Sony, you will find a booklet titled “Operating Instructions” in the top of the box. With the instruction book, you will also find a small slip of paper that says, “Before disengaging or operating this machine, read these instructions carefully.”

Sony wants you to experience the maximum enjoyment from its product, and to do so, you must first be thoroughly familiar with the capabilities of the machine. If you don’t read the manual first, you will never see the high quality and maximum performance Sony built into the equipment.

The same is true of the highly sophisticated equipment God designed, called men and women. You will never reach your optimal performance unless you first check God’s operating instructions. The Bible is God’s manual. You cannot operate properly until you become acquainted with “The Manufacturer’s Guarantee” detailing everything God built into you.

When you invited Jesus into your heart, a journey began that is uniquely yours. Your personality traits — the complexity of all your behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental attributes — have influenced both that moment of decision and your life in Christ since that day.

The manufacturer’s warranty guarantees that you can return the product to the manufacturer for repair or replacement if the product fails during the specified period.

God’s warranty includes a clause of grace. He’ll take you in your broken state and wrecked condition and throw out Satan’s parts. God will continue to work on you until you are cleansed and your life is transformed. But you can’t expect God to fix you if you are going to Satan for repair.

God’s manual will answer operational questions encountered daily.
