Zacharias road meanders through thousands of acres of prime agricultural farmland in the unincorporated part of Stanislaus County north of Patterson.  This area would be transformed into a second Interstate 5 interchange under all three plans that are being considered by city officials. Only the lower carbon footprint alternative excludes this addition. If approved, prime agricultural land would likely make way for light industrial buildings, highway commercial, general commercial, and housing.
